Builder or bathroom company

I am looking to get a couple of bathrooms refurbished. Any opinions on whether to go to the bathroom companies, or to contact small builders? I would normally go to a builder for internal works but see there are specialist bathroom companies.

    Thanks

Tough one to answer. There are good builders and bathroom contractors and some very bad ones. I'd prefer to engage a separate plumber and tiler.

Whatever route you go down go with someone that's been recommended if possible

    Bathroom guys.
Builder will have to get, plumber & tiler, basically subbie all the work out.
Bathroom guys are generally plumbers/ handymen & they arrange the tiler.

I might have a name for you as I know someone who had a couple of bathrooms redone in Cork city. Quality looked good and no call backs were required. It might be one guy on his own.

If you haven’t heard back from me by tomorrow send me a pm

I used Bathrooms4U in the end and am very happy with the work.

are there decent builders who will take on jobs like this? i'd heard anecdotally it was very hard to get ones who were willing to take on small jobs.

in my case, i want to convert a small downstairs room into a loo - there's no foul outlet there so would involve digging through the floor of the garage and driveway to get to the foul about 12 foot away, so a definite job for a builder.

The bathroom companies are usually overpriced for convenience.

You can always get a price for the m them and then a price from a plumber using their materials (well their basin, shower, taps etc.)instead of having the plumber source you some.

Plumber might be able to get the same stuff, or very similar if you are not too picky cheaper.
