Considering moving to Eir

I am out of broadband contract soon and considering moving to Eir as their price seems to be very attractive.

I would like to hear from someone who has moved to eir from a different provider.

I got in contact with them and was told that for the 150Mb/s fibre service they do not charge any fees for moving to them.
Their price is ~€30 per month for 12 month contract, after which it would increase unless cancelled.

Is the above true regarding no €99 or other charges?

An item I forgot to question them on was using a server on my connection.
I have a family member who is remote from me and I would like to share my TV receiver with him. This would mean streaming TV to his gaff. (He cannot put up a Sat dish - rental)

Does eir prevent/block such a server?

Lastly I was told that I can use my own router (a fritxbox) on the eir connection, but my previous experience with eir has me doubting this.

Is there any worry about this?

Thank you for reading and hopefully someone with experience of changing fibre provider to eir can post their experience.

[yes I know their customer service is the pits, but if it all works out that should not be required]

Problem is they will find a way to mess up your order no matter how straight forward it is and then you can look forward to contacting them for the next 12 months trying to get it resolved. I'd avoid at all costs.

Who are you moving from? I moved from eir to Virgin about 11 months ago and the difference is night and day. Eir provide possibly the worst ISP service (multiple outages and brutal speed) I have experienced and worst customer service (you will be kept waiting so long with any issue) I have ever experienced from a company.

Was that a FTTH service or maybe FTTC?

Even if they don't mess up your order, it will be a nightmare to try and leave them.

Its called Broadband Bingo for a reason.
I have heard horror stories about all providers. 95% of the installations are probably without a hitch. The other 5% are hell and it depends which side of the line you get caught on. In my experience, all providers are useless and their customer service is useless.
If you have a cooling off period where you can cancel without penalty if things go t1ts up, you have nothing to lose I would say?

I am well aware of eir's failings regarding customer service and the difficulties in making contact. Money is tight hence the interest in eir's service.

Here are the questions I have for those who have moved from any provider to eir ...

    1. Does eir charge a connection or other fee when moving from another provider to the eir 150Mb/s broadband package?

    2. Does eir allow a user to use their own router such as a fritzbox?

    3. Does eir allow the user to have a server on their connection?

I would really appreciate any information or answers to those questions if possible.
