    I'm thinking of Ivy, would really appreciate any other suggestions.

    What do you want them to do? What situation will they be in, exposed/ shaded/ sunny etc. What kind of pot size? Ivy needs a support to grow up unless you are looking for a trailer. There are quite a lot of options but they do depend on various circumstances. Bit more information would get better suggestions.

    Euonymus japonicus might suit.

    3 lt is very small. You need to be aiming for something 30 ish liters.
