Hi all, just looking for advice on impartial car valuation, where to find a realistic price , not forecourt, as in the “book” value of years gone by, does that still exist, thank you in advance

I'd say Done Deal would give you a pretty good idea. You can filter as you wish to find a similar car to yours...

So how do you get a realistic value? Dealer prices have margin and warranty built into them. Private seller prices are just asking prices, not the actual selling prices. To me revenue's valuation is just as realistic/unrealistic as the others.

All carzone do is take the average asking price of a particular model advertised on their website. Any of those could be a dreamer price which then bumps up carzone's average valuation.

Submit the car details to a car buying site and that will give you a rough trade value, look at dealers asking prices and deduct 10%, that will give you the retail value. Private sale value is somewhere in between

They don’t though, put in something somewhat rare and you’ll still get a valuation that isn’t the average of said cars on the site. It’s powered by Cartell I believe. It’s probably nowhere accurate though, in saying that.

Get a similar UK car. Use the autotrader used car valuation tool which shows part ex private and retail prices in Stg. Take the px value and convert to euro, add the vrt and say 500e. Circa 250e transport and 250e auction fee on top of the trade price. Obviously covid has thrown a curve ball to this but if anything tariffs will make the price higher so this should be safe.

Was selling my car recently and wanted an accurate sale price so I used the tool at zu car. I was happy that their valuation seemed 10% lower than the value so I just sold it to them.

Use zu car to get the valuation. Add 10% and sell it... Or save yourself the hassle and sell to zu car.

An independent Motor Assessor will be able to provide you with a realistic market valuation for your car.

I'd doubt many sellers will go to the expense of paying a motor assessor what they will charge to make it worth their while, to value a car unless they are contesting the market value with an insurance company regarding a write off.

Stick the car details up here and you'll get some honest estimates.

Is there any website where I could follow the historical depreciation of a car in Ireland?
I found some places in the UK but couldn't find anything relevant here.

If it's for a specific car you'll get that on a cartell report, it'll show it as a graph over the years. Will also show you what the car went for on the previous times it was sold (if through a public add or website) which I thought was a handy feature. If it's a second hand car from a dealer they should have a report for the car, and will (should) send it on to you if you're interested.
