Opel Grandland X

I'm wondering what the view is on the grandland x is?

My car is 2016 opel astra K , 64k KM on it. Hoping to get 10k trade in value for it. Prepared to add another max 15k to it but would prefer to put closer to 10k.

The only problem with current car is the size. We are expecting a second kid so with 2 adults and 2 kids, the current car is a little small. The boot more so than the cabin space.

Mileage per year is 10k max with no real long journeys so a small petrol engine is fine for us. Partner is pushing for electric car but don't think we have the budget for it.

I'm looking at something like this:
    https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/opel/grandland-x/fpa/201912195475711?journey=Search

Any other cars I should be looking at around that budget with same/bigger boot/cabin?

    Thanks

They’re alright but very bland and non stylish compared to the Peugeot 3008 it’s based on. Just look like a box on 4 wheels with no imagination or flare thrown in. Completely generic product.
Granted the model you show is actually quite nice, the two tone paint seems to lift it a lot

Yeah I accept the style is boring, both in and outside of the car. The equivalent 3008 seems to be a few €1000's more though and I can't really justify it.

3008 seems to be very reliable so since there are based on the same platform, I guess the Opel should be fine. I'll keep the 3008 in mind if I see a good deal though.

    Thanks for the help

Im in the same boat, hoping to change later this year, and the Grandland X petrol has caught my eye.I'll be looking for a 2018/2019,basic enough spec.I had a really bad experience with a 3008 about 7/8 years ago ,it broke my heart and wallet,it just completely put me off Peugeots.

I know the Grandland is a bit plain, but its space im more interested in,seems to have more room than the Qashqai or Sportage?.They are better looking cars for sure though.

Im sticking with a petrol as i dont do big miles (8/9k a year).

Sorry hope you dont mind me hijacking your thread!

I think the Grandland X is a lovely looking motor so beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose. The paint job on the example you are looking at is hideous however. It looks much better like this.

They are not boring. If you want boring look at VW.
The Grandland is a very stylish, classy car with a great dash design.

They are a great car. Never mind the poster above. A VW is boring an Opel is not. Opel are stylish, classy modern cars not afraid to be brave with design.
The Grandland is a good car. I see plenty of them around my local town which makes sense I suppose as the main Opel dealer is only a town away.

    Peace and long life.

I like their styling and enjoyed a test drive in one. Good spec available and decent space.

I'm ordering a petrol one myself, as I liked it so much.

I think the standard spec Grandland can look a bit plain in photos, but in the flesh its a decent looking car..

At the moment im only browsing,a good spec Qashqai are a nice looking car too,as is the Seat Ateca.

The Grandland has definitely grown on me though!.

Dull boring car with very little style and class. The dash is also not very good.

You should have a look at the be Tiguan. More stylish design. Company won’t be gone out of business in the next 5 years and they have a nice dash.

OP did you trade in for a Grandland X in the end? I'm hoping to trade my Astra J GTC (diesel) for the new Mokka and would be interested to hear what your cost to change was. My motor is 2018, with FSH and low mileage (given the last year) but expecting to be offered around 11-12K against the new car.

I contacted a few places but didn't get any work back. We sat down ourselves and decided against changing so will leave it for a few months and see where we are at post-pandemic.

Lol I laugh at that. A Tiguan stylish lol. How do you know VW will not be gone out of business in 5 years time can you see the future? Who knows what could happen in the next 5 years.
The Grandland X is a much more stylish design than the Tiguan and and nicer dash too. But I suppose in the end it all comes down to individual preference and what that individual prefers. For me I would have the Opel Opel Astra over a Golf and the Grandland over a Tiguan but I suppose that is just me.

I’ve no idea what a grand land x even looks like. Just giving you an example of a typical post of yours when anyone mentions a vw. Pure drivel

Yep the Opel is the much nicer car there. Just look at the beautiful dash compared to the dull think in the VW.
Ain't nothing wrong with my eye.

It's the same dash they had in the Astra five years ago.

To be fair the Tiguan dash looks like a Golf highline dash from 2010.

I'm not sure why everyone is getting so bent out of shape over two vanilla cars in the first place however.

If it ain't broke why change it?

It's a good, well laid out, stylish, ergonomic dash

We have a 181 Grandland for the last year. Never given a moment problem. Its the 1.6 TDI , not sure what spec level it is. My missus drives it to work and for the shopping.

I wouldn’t buy either a Grandland X or a Tiguan but looking at the above pictures the Grandland X is a nicer looking car IMO.

I just find them pridictable and boring. It's the same thing from them all the time no revolution like say a Focus just evolution.
No get me wrong VW are a great company and they make great Vans but when it comes to cars I just wish they would be braver and move the game on do something crazy

No problems with my motor either which has the same engine, although I am aware there is a common problem with timing chain rattle caused by plastic pieces in the tensioner disintegrating or coming away. A similar issue affected the Peugeot 207 GT which used a BMW engine.

Nothing in the Tiguan vs Grandland pics that stand out- I prefer the VW dash. It’s more modern. Given the choice I’d pick the VW.
But I’d still chose a 3008 over either any day.

    Off to Specsavers with you.

I have to say the VW looks dated already to me. The dash is terrible and dominated by air vents. The Grandland body is more stylish to me also, and I have excellent eyesight.
Then there's the spec available for the money.

We all look for different things. It's why we have so many makes and models in the road.

The dash design of the Passat is an eyesore as well although the exterior appearance of the car is very handsome indeed, particularly in the highest spec.
