    Yes. Far too small.

Towing capacity of the Avensis is 1600kg.

An ifor Williams 10 x 5 livestock trailer has a plated weight of 2750kg

Is it stamped on the trailer anywhere ? If not, if your friendly with your local mill, park it on their weighing scales and ask them to tell you how heavy it is empty.

is the plated weight not the full weight, ie 10 by 5 doesn't weigh 2750 empty

When I was collecting my last new trailer there was a guy bringing out a serviced12 by 5 with decks with an audi A6, I remarked to him that I presume you're only bringing it home with that and he remarked ''I never pull it with anything else''
Very few farmer have been summonsed over trailers, I never heard of anyone, I often pulled the 12 by 5 with the puegeot 407,

    ,

I was only suggesting how he'd find out the unladen weight of the trailer as a starting point. Unless the trailer has a stamp on it detailing the max laden weights, you'd only be guessing what that would be.

Used to have a 10'x5 that I used to pull with a jeep. Then I changed over to a 2 litre diesal car , even hooking the thing up to the car looked wrong. The trailer wheels were bigger then the cars, more suited to the height of a jeep or van. So changed over to a 8ft trailer with r13 wheels and now the trailer comes in nicely to meet the tow bar. Find it a good match.

Anybody have an experience of the VW Tiguan’s for towing?

Some of the 2.0 tdi 4x4 models have a towing capacity of 2500kg

One of these and Tiguan could be a good match.
