    Wee hours musing...

So I’ve pretty much noticed, out and about for walks in the locality the past month or so, including short trips in the car to the supermarket or pharmacy, a seriously big number of ambulances on the move with the sirens on.

So is it Covid related? Or the result of a secondary effect of the lockdowns and the pandemic?

    Anyone else noticed this?

So I’m not the only one who’s noticed the huge increase in ambulances about.

I just had a thought: could it be linked to the vaccination programme?

Not here. Been going on for months and I know 90+ year olds still not vaccinated.

Those ambulances could be called as a result of suicide or even an attempted suicide. This lockdown is really getting to people now. Alot of people are broken financially and even more so mentally.

That's a big lie that must have turned your tongue black. I would lay money on the fact that you started this thread just to say that. :pac::pac:

I’ll hazard a guess that it’s somewhere between a tiny percentage and none of them. And I’d be right too.

    Nonsense

I’ll be cynical here and guess that it’s private ambulance companies screwing the taxpayer through the public service contracts gravy train. HSE pen pushers calling anything and everything an emergency and the vast swathes of ‘I’m entitled to everything for free’ lovely people dialling 999 for a broken fingernail.

There’ll be no chances taken in this country when the judges reward stupidity and see ‘negligence’ everywhere.

I was thinking about this. Fewer people are attending A and E since covid arrived.
    Scared of getting infected.

And fewer GPs doing house calls. Referring them on.

So maybe they are getting more sick with the delays and then have to call an ambulance?

I'm sure the ambulance service could answer this but I don't think there's any more on the road.
Perhaps they're more noticeable because of the reduction in other traffic, or it could be, more likely, the baader meinhoff effect.

The NAS are giving vaccines to old vulnerable people whom are housebound.

Ask the OP are they with sirens? if not then.... BINGO!

Or a combination of several of the many ideas here...

Oh I see loads of them these days and I think there was a time at the start of the pandemic where they would occasionally drive through the city with their sirens on just to sow fear and ill-feeling among the population.

It's all to do with the new HSE budgets, if a towns ambulance doesn't do a certain of miles every year it is taken off of them, and sent to a town that would need it more. Hense they spend the day driving around to keep the miles up. Madness really.

On motorway to work one morning before Christmas there was one acting very strangly.

He was in the overtaking lane for ages with full lights on even though he was passing nobody.

He pulled back into the driving lane and as I was getting totally headwrecked/distracted/headache from being stuck behind a light show in the dark for 5mins went to pass and he fecking pulled into my path without indicating.

Embarrassingly I beeped him :o as he nearly caused me to crash into him - had to brake hard not to. Not sure what he was at, surely even a rookie driver would now better with their training.

There has been alot of suicides in the last year in my area. I also no of one attempted suicide at Christmas. One young person took their own life only a few days ago. I live in an average size town. Maybe the rest of the country is doing alot better I'm not to sure.

There was a lot of suicides in my area long before covid or any lockdowns. Happens.

The only madness here is when people make up fairy stories like this and others are delighted to swallow the nonsense because, you know, the HSE.

I'm going to really, really hope that you don't actually believe that and just made it up for the craic...........................

This is true. I heard it from my brother's friend's cousin's neighbour, who knows someone whose sister's daughter's best friend's mother works for the HSE. The crazy thing is, it doesn't matter if it gets taken off of them. I heard (through a friend) of a team of paramedics who dumped their ambulance at a bus stop because the bus driver wouldn't let them bring it on. They said it doesn't matter because they'll just get another one from off of the HSE.
