I have a 10 year old home cinema system and I am experiencing an issue with communication from transmitter to receiver for rear speakers. All front speakers work fine, but they are hard wired.

Does anybody know if this type of item is repairable and if there is anybody in North County Dublin that repairs electronics (Google search yielded nothing)

You could try http://thehifihospital.com/ - not in county, but not far off and you could contact them to see what could be worked out.

No personal experience but have seen them referenced by more than a few enthusiasts.

A friend used a place called Plasmacare to repair a tv, on the Nangor rd, not in north Dublin but might be worth a try.
