Okay I had singed up with Pure for the 1gbs FTTH service. All good until the
installers came out out this morning , asked me had a a duct , I said absolutely no idea ! No one in pure mentioned a duct to me . So they went away
and I'm back to square one. I was pretty fed up as I didn't think this would be an issue, just assumed Pure or their agents would do all the work .
Anyway I do see an old phone line coming into the house, I assume this is in a duct of some sort and ho do I know whether its usable ? As I see from the Eir website some can be blocked etc.
Do people install ducts for householders is that a thing ?
I'd appreciate any feedback because I'm paying 54 Euro a month for 250mbs with my current provider and I know I can do better .

I signed up with Vodafone for Siro FTTH.

Prior to install being scheduled, Either Vodafone or Siro (don't know which) scheduled and sent a surveyor out (not an installer). He documented nearest/preferred ESB pole to run from(there was a choice of two), where on the house to attach to (Overhead, not duct option) and where to drill through.

Ducting wasn't an option here as the Siro kit and cabling is all up on the poles, not going down into to the ground.
That was March 2020. Install didn't proceed at that time due to Covid.

I signed up again recently through onebigswitch.ie, as the price cannot be beaten at €25 for 4 months, 30 for remainder of year, for 500Mb/s . Two surveyors turned up, unscheduled this time. Install scheduled for next week.
    Hope that helps.
