My elderly parents got their vaccines

Both parents aged 77 and 78 received their first jab yesterday and the relief in their voices was the best thing I've heard in years. Both have serious underlying health conditions and to them, its like a feeling of being released from a form of prison. The fear element of interacting with other people is dissipating. So with all the negative news and naysayers out there I ask you, have any of your relatives received the same kind of relief and release from their fears of contracting Covid?

I'm glad your parents got their vaccines. What it their first or second dose?

I totally understand their fear, it's the same for many who have serious underlying conditions (of all ages). I have friends caring for elderly parents who have said they felt massive relief when their parents were vaccinated.

I hope to be released from my prison shortly.

They should let those vaccinated return in numbers to church and also pubs. A soft reopening of things for those done.

I guess you have to have your second vaccine and a few weeks after before it’s open season.

My in laws have got the vaccine so that's a relief. My mother is nearly 80 and will be waiting until April I'm guessing.
People in my parish in their 80s are still waiting for their 1st jab.

I know a couple both 80s where one has got the jab & the other hasn't. They have different GPS.

My cousin aged 52 in London has got her jab.

Yeah leave the 80 year old vaccinated into the pubs and the 20 year olds can watch in the window

It's their first dose, both got the Pfizer vaccine. It's not as if they'll be going mad or anything but just the sense that they see the grandkids again and give them a hug is really all they want. For a long time they lived with the fear of never seeing us again in person so you can see how much, even a first dose means to elderly people.

My dad was to get his vaccine on a Monday. He got covid 19 on the Sunday!!

Got progressively worse during the week and ended up in hospital on the following Friday night. By the Monday he was on a CPAP oxygen machine and wasn't getting any better. Thankfully by the following weekend he had recovered well enough to come off the oxygen and has since been discharged.

Unfortunately he now has to wait 90 days before he can receive the vaccine!!

MOD Thread closed, there is a vaccine thread in the covid forum that would be better suited for this:
