I need advice from anyone familiar with broadband providers.

I have been with Virgin Media for many years. I want to change to the Vodafone offer but I have an unusual situation and it's causing a problem.

I'm in Dublin so I don't have rural location problem or anything like that. But note that my house is one of those built on my neighbour's corner site, allocated a new number and sold.

When Vodafone run a test on service availability for my house it came up as none. They told me they can only work off data Eir provides so can't help me.

I contacted Eir on webchat and they were helpful in explaining that my house and my neighbour's have the same number on their records even though different Eircodes (think number 10 for both instead of 10 and 10A). It seems that s what's causing the problem. They gave me an email address to get it fixed by openeir.

I emailed openeir on 25th Feb. No reply.

I logged a complaint on Eir website on 8th March. Got automated reply from ccm about a 2 day response. Nothing yet.

I messaged Eir on Twitter. They first told me to contact Virgin. Am I correct that it's nothing to do with them as it's a different network and cabling? Then they told me it's Vodafone who have to fix it.

    Now I'm stuck in limbo!

Am I tied to Virgin Media for ever?

Thank you. I would never have thought of that. I'll give openeir, twitter an complaints until tomorrow. If no solution, I will get onto comreg.

It's so frustrating when you know you're being fobbed off.
