Waiting to start rennovation and extension and planning to upgrade the heating system by replacing boiler and getting in a zoned area system. Ballpark how much should we budget for? I believe there's a grant we can get. Thanks.

There is not an easy answer to your query.
Every home and household needs to be analyzed individually and a suitable, efficient and cost effective design may only then be produced.
Do not be dragged into the sales hype that a new boiler and maybe smart controls are the (fashionable) way to go.
If the existing boiler works reliably and safely then it would not normally be cost effective to replace it.
As an upgrade, carefully considered zoning is definitely the way to go.
You need more than just an off-the-peg boiler replacement price.

OK but current boiler is outdoors in boiler house due to be demolished to make way for the extension. We want one that doesn't need a roof.
But we're told it's at least 15 yrs old and lifespan anything between 18-20yrs.

Also interested in the option of smart thermostat controls but no idea how much extra this is.
