Self cleaning oven? Safe to use cleaning agents?

We have an oven that's supposedly self cleaning, we were warned by the sales woman not to use cleaning agents in it, as to do so would damage the "catalytic surface".
It also says likewise on the actual bottles of cleaning solutions.

A lot of fat and grime has built up, as it does in an oven. Using the catalytic cleaning function with warm soapy water and a moist cloth as per the instruction manual doesn't seem to work, It's caked in.

In people's experience, what would you do? Worst case, if the catalytic surface was damaged with a solution would it affect how the oven heats?

It's a Electrolux built in oven btw.

Do not use cleaning fluids, turn the oven temp up fully and the high temp will cause it to clean

What’s the difference between using the high temperature or the built in catalytic function (Cata)?

What damage will the cleaning agents do? Will it damage the heating function of the oven?

Over time those liners become less effective and can be replaced. If you use anything other than soapy water they’ll likely not work at all.

Next time, try and get a pyrolitic one which uses much higher heat levels to get rid of the grease deposits.
