Soundbar Advice

    Hi,

We have a Samsung Q85 55 inch screen which we're generally very happy with, we're also using a Sony HT-SD35 soundbar with wireless subwoofer.
The performance of the soundbar is sub-par at best, voices are low, music during shows and movies is far too high. Bass is poor, in general it just lacks a punch.
We are looking to upgrade and have considered the Samsung Q60t (https://www.richersounds.ie/p-204669-samsung-hwq60t-5-1ch-cinematic-soundbar-with-virtual-dts-x-object-sound.aspx) and the LG SL8YG (https://www.richersounds.ie/p-204267-lg-sl8yg-3-1-2-ch-high-res-audio-soundbar-with-dolby-atmos-and-google-assistant.aspx)

One thing I am concerned about is the placement of the soundbar at present, the TV is mounted above a non working fireplace and the soundbar is sitting on the fireplace mantle, the soundbar is behind the TV but below the bottom of the television (Images of setup attached)

It's not ideal but I'm happy the distance between the television and soundbar is enough to not block any sound.
The sub woofer is placed on the floor beside the fireplace.

I'm looking for some recommendations as to a replacement soundbar, or a wireless speaker setup if that is more preferential. Budget is 400 - 600.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Phone2000.

    Thanks for the post.

Both the Q60T and the SL8YG are great soundbars.
In my opinion the LG wold be the better of the two as it also can process an Atmos sound track and out put 3.1.2

Samsung also have their Atmos bar the HWQ70T priced at 669 Euro
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-204680-samsung-hwq70t-3-1-2ch-cinematic-soundbar-with-dolby-atmos-and-dts-x.aspx

The positioning of your bar is not ideal as the sound would be hitting the back of the TV and dampening it.

Is there any way you could mount the soundbar onto a bracket at the bottom of the TV?
Something like the FPA405 priced at 34.99 euro
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-200135-sanus-fpa405-b2-soundbar-bracket.aspx

This would allow the bar to hang below the television and there would be no obstruction to the audio.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Hi Kenny

I had a look at the setup again last night and decided to just move the TV mount up a few inches so there won't be any chance of blocking the soundbar and we shouldn't then need to mount.

Cheeky question but is 499 the best price on the LG?

    Thanks

    Hey Phone2000.

It will give you a better overall sound now TV has been moved up to not block the soundbar.

The 499 Euro would be the best price unfortunately as the Euro pricing is already a much better deal to our £449 sterling retail.
