Building a shed. I have questions!

Moved into a house last summer. It has a concrete slab at the back 4m x 7m. According to the previous owner the slab is 8 inches (20 cm) thick.

There is an existing wooden shed on this but its falling apart so i want to replace it this summer with a 4m x 3m shed.

    1. I will be covering the slab with some nice paving and turning it into a seating/bbq area. What should the shed be placed upon?

    2. Any good recommendations for a shed type?

    3. Is there any cost advantage to building one myself vs buying it?

Concrete slab will be perfect for shed.
Type of shed will depend on your budget and if you are willing to have a go yourself.
Go ahead and price the options, timber / metal clad etc. Avoid felt roof.
Is your side and back boundary a wall, fence or other ?
Have considered access space all around for maintenance etc ?
Go and have a look at a few different types.
Timber sheds are fairly simple to put together but you'd want a reasonable level of DIY / carpentry.
Building yourself will probably be cheaper but certainly better bang for your buck i.e. you'll build a better one for the same price.
What are you going to use it for ?

The slab sounds structurally perfect but I think you're asking should you sit the new shed directly on it ?

I think you should stand the shed on maybe 12 solid concrete blocks to allow dispersal of water and to avoid a damp area forming.

Good shout about leaving some space for maintenance. Its against a boundary fence which we will need to maintain.
