Hi there, in the last 18 months fibre is available in my area. I've been trying for over 1 year to get connected, but EIR have been horrendous, multiple mistakes in the orders resulting in the Engineers not fulfilling the order. At this stage I think they're incapable of getting it right.

So my question is, if I move to Vodafone, can they request the fibre line upgrade for me to Open EIR?

They will tell you no, but that is exactly what I did after trying with eir for over a year.
I moved to Vodafone then a month later i asked to be upgraded to FTTH.
The KN guys came out and ran the fiber and it was all done.
Very easy. But now you have to change provider every year or get ripped off on price, which is a pain.

Did you try one of the comparison sites to see what's available to you? There are different carriers available in different areas some are very competitive. Ask here before committing to any provider and you'll get a good idea what they're like.
