    Hi,

My wife is currently on JA . It is the first time she has ever claimed as she always depended on my salary but recently I had to go on the PUP as a result of covid restrictions. So my wife applied and was approved for 203 a week. This was a few weeks ago and she has been receiving payment into her bank account.

Today she received a letter from her case officer who said she would be ringing her next week for a review of her case and to advise her to try to seek employment and what efforts she has made up to now to get a job The letter states that the interview cannot take place in the intreo offices because of covid . It also states that it will last 40-50 minutes! Has anyone else received this kind of letter ? I don't know much about the workings of SW but I never heard of such a thing before and it just seems a little intrusive as it is carried out over the phone.

I don’t see how it’s intrusive? Part of the criteria for JA is that she’s seeking employment so they’re just checking up on that. Makes sense to do it over the phone instead of her bringing her in for a physical interview

its called activation...where case officer rings unemployed person to see how they are going on job hunt and try identify training or other supports that may increase customers employability. Its there to help them...only people who have to worry about this is people who don't want help with jobhunting or don't want work....

You would normally pre Covid have to do it in person regardless and it would last roughly that long, it's nothing to worry about the case officer will ask your wife what areas of employment she is interested in or has applied and may suggest training courses on offer that may suit her. She should be able to present some evidence of employment she has applied for, this can literally be just any job she applied for, I know in these Covid times vacancies are rare but she should present some evidence of applying.
