Hooked up my obd2 scanner to my 2004 Toyota Corolla 1.4 d4d and its showing engine load 30.2% at idle and fully warmed up.

Seems high if you ask me, am I dumb or is there something wrong with my engine.

Just means you could use more air & fuel at that rpm iirc.30% when warm at idle fine.

Thank you also calculated boost is like -19 at idle is that normal

Generally with most cars if something is out of spec it will throw an EML, so unless you have an EML on there is very little to be worried about.

I would imagine that its showing -19 as the system as the intake system is at a slight Vacuum, Normal atmospheric pressure is around 16PSI, so once you start creating a vacuum you are straight to -16PSI. A vacuum is perfectly normal when on idle, this is due to the engine running but the throttle body being closed.

For say a 100bhp car, being at 30.2% load doesn't necessarily mean the engine is under the same stresses, or using the same amount of fuel that it would be when generating 30.2bhp.

It seems to be a measurement of current airflow, as a percentage of maximum airflow, for that particular RPM.
