2007 1 Series battery replacement (coding?)

    Hi folks, I'm due to replace the battery on a petrol 1.6 1 series next week. I assumed it would be a straight forward swap out, however I have read online that the battery should be coded in, but others say it only needs to be done if it has start/stop, which it doesn't.

    I went to have a look and see that it has a larger than terminal connector, as well as a small lead running off to the side. So just looking to see if anyone can shed any light on if it can be swapped straight, or does it add complication if you don't tell the car that you are doing so. Cheers.

    You'll need to code the new battery so the battery management system can make adjustments for the newer/healthier battery. I ended up getting a BMW secondhand one off €bay the time I needed one - for €50 (which I thought was worth the gamble), and the battery turned out to be less than 6 months old and bang on. Carly or similar will code it for you.

    Just fire it in to it. You don't have to do anything else.

    Yes...lots of people will say they didn't code their new battery and didn't notice any difference.
