Water filter tap

I just changed the filter in a couple of seconds and have the flow going the correct direction etc.

However, I notice that the pressure is very slow. When I turn on the tap I get great pressure and then it just dies back to a very low flow. What could be the reason for this?

here is the filter that I just replaced.

is there a pump in the filter system? Mine drops off too but then the pump kicks in and pressure becomes ok again......

no pump. I do have a water softener but the filter tap comes off the line before the softener.

I have to investigate today but I was thinking last night if it could be limescale build up. I live in a very hard water area hence the water softener.

there's a reservoir tank? Any other elements, reverse osmosis or other filters?

now you are getting into a lot of questions I cannot answer!

I have a softener that I fill with salt every so often depending on usage.
I have a small filter tap that comes off the mains feed before it hits the softener.

this small filter tap comes from mains through one of these and then the tap.

ok - you could try removing the cartridge and see what happens the flow?

yeah tried that slow by steady flow. I am thinking there is some corrosion around the Self Piercing Saddle Valve. and that is slowing the pressure.

    here is the valve

Is there a kink in the red plastic pipe there? Seems to be pinched tight against the wall at the back? I've the same attachment but only moderate hard water. Not sure how to clear this if it's blocked - is there a spare you can replace it with or is there a mains stopcock you can close to take this off, clean and return to the exact same position. The risk is if you get a leak here that's fairly bad!
You could close this one off if you get a spare and move the pipe to the new one but angle it better for smoother flow? Do you know who supplied and if they have spares?

Took the fitting off and cleaned - that was not the problem.
Turned it around and eliminated the kink - that was not the problem.
There was a tiny bit of dirt/sludge blocking the red pipe! All good again. thanks
