No response from Pre Planning

I'm wondering if people have any advice on what to do in my situation. I'm looking to build a house beside my parents in the Dublin suburbs and others have done the same in the area so it seems like it should all be pretty straight forward.

We've been working with some Architects for a while but they suggested we go through Pre Planning first just to make sure. The issue is they've applied for it 5-6 months ago and we still haven't heard anything other than they're looking into it. The first time they did reply they looked at the wrong place, so that was useless and replied a few weeks ago they were looking at the correct place but with no actual answers.

I'm starting to get quite fed up and I'm thinking I should just go ahead for planning but that would also mean paying some more fees for to the Architect but if it all fails, I'm worried I'd be down a fair bit of money.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Were drawings and a site location map submitted with the pre-planning application?

Problem with pre-planning applications is there is not statutory time limit for planners to have a look/comment....it's usually when a planner has some spare time that they have a look.

From what the Architects have said yes, how they managed to look at the wrong site I'm not sure what happened there.

I don't know what the situation is in Dublin but I'd imagine it's the same as here in Donegal. Face to face pre planning clinics have been cancelled since last year. However the relevant documents can be submitted and the planner is then available to discuss the proposal by phone on designated days. After that a written response is issued. Overall time frame is about 5 - 6 weeks.

If your architect is looking after this ask them to send you copies of what was submitted. Then follow that up with a phone call to the planning office. No way should it take 5 months or longer.

    Dublin City Council

Dublin City doesn’t have an official Pre-Planning process.
What email did the architect send it to.

Where in Dublin is the site based?

Is resend it highlighting the fact it was sent before.
I am also awaiting a preplanning request response from fingal that I sent in on 29th November!

I only resent it in again today.

You can also call them and ask what is the response period and that will put pressure on them.
