Sourcing cedar and other fancy wood species?

I am planning for a big garden rehaul(workshop, fences, gates, decking etc) plus some furniture and I am looking for cedar and walnut timber.

I found a few places that specialise in cedar fences and likes, but the cost of buying from them is a bit too steep. 30-60 yoyos for a square meter of 18mm battens is way beyond my budget.
Why is it so overpriced? It's the most common tree in the world and not an alien specie in Ireland.
Also, walnut is impossible to find either.
Anyways, maybe someone knows where to get it for a decent price? Heck, I'd be even happy to get greenwood and mill it myself.

I am in the Roscommon area
