    Not actually going to jail though.
    Sarkozy can serve the term at home.

    In the ruling, the judge in Paris said Sarkozy could serve a year at home with an electronic tag, rather than go to prison. The ex-president is expected to appeal.

    Reminds me of Christine Lagarde/Bernard Tapie case - she's found guilty of negligence paying public money to Tapie yet keeps her job*, no jail time, no criminal record.
    *The job that was exempt from income tax.
