Not actually going to jail though.
Sarkozy can serve the term at home.

In the ruling, the judge in Paris said Sarkozy could serve a year at home with an electronic tag, rather than go to prison. The ex-president is expected to appeal.

Bush and Blair with their non existent weapons of mass destruction are another pair who should have been called to account.

You don't have to bribe him when he's 'one of our own' ;)

Ah not at all. Bertie isn't worried at all. He thinks "influence peddling" means posting pictures on instagram while doing your deliveroo rounds.

Wow, the French don't mess around, it's not often an senior politician/president ends up in Jail.

PARIS (AP) – A Paris court on Monday found French former President Nicolas Sarkozy guilty of corruption and influence peddling and sentenced him to one year in prison and a two-year suspended sentence.

We would set up a tribunal and shelved the report.

Reminds me of Christine Lagarde/Bernard Tapie case - she's found guilty of negligence paying public money to Tapie yet keeps her job*, no jail time, no criminal record.
*The job that was exempt from income tax.

The EU gave her a job as head of the ECB..
