Irish for Lizard

Does anyone know the spelling for the West Cork pronunciation of lizard? My dad say it like “ascú luachra”. The ascú bit is what I am looking for, phonetically pronounced “ass-coo”.

"Laghairt" and "earc luachra" seem to be the more common dictionary entries, while "eascú" on its own usually means eel. That would give a literal translation of "eel of the rushes" for eascú luachra, which I think is quite a nice way of describing the viviparous lizard.

That's a great name for the little fellas. Only saw one yesterday for the first time.

My dad's from Beara in West Cork. He told me that children were told not to go to sleep in the grass because the lizards would climb into their mouths.
