Can you travel to inspect/buy a car?

    Sorry if this is the wrong forum (please move if required), but I have found a car I want to buy, but it's unfortunately on the other side of the country. I'm just wonder what is the procedure in this case? Is it a no go at all, or is there some way I can get permission to travel solely for this purpose? I'll have to travel to inspect the car and if I'm happy with it, I'd have to travel again in a few weeks to collect it after setup up tax/insurance etc. It's a long drive so I'd rather not "just chance it” only to get turned back at the last hurdle. Thanks in advance.
