    Hi Guys,

Looking for some wisdom and advice.
I have a 2020 Giant contend (sl1 Disc) and I'm trying to find a pannier rack to fit.

Besides the obvious short length of the chain stay and possibly kicking the bags off as I cycle is there any obvious reason I may be missing to not do it? Had anyone here managed to find a set that works?

I can't seem to find any road bike specific brands online that mount directly and the universal kits on amazon seem to have poor reviews due to quality and fitment.

I seem to have these mounting points on my bike, do they look like they would take a pannier rack or are they possibly the traditional brake mounting points?

I don't know whether your contend has rack/ mudguard mounts, my 2016 defy did. Giant sell a seat collar for the Dfuse seat post, which allowed me use a pannier rack on my defy. https://www.giant-bicycles.com/ie/giant-d-fuse-seat-collar

Oh deadly, I never considered one of them seatpost mounted racks time to go back down the rabbit hole. How far did they sit back on your defy?

I have those tiny holes up near the seatpost and then two even smaller mounts down by the disc/ cassette.

they do look usable for mounting panniers, albeit a little low, but i note there don't seem to be eyelets at the bottom of the stays for mounting one?

I had a good look and there isn't eyelets on the bottom stays, the holes there are far to small to take any weight.

After looking online it appears i can 'bodge' p clamps onto the frame and make it work or buy the Thule Pack and Pedal Touring Rack. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.thule.com/en-us/bike-packs-bags-and-racks/panniers-and-bike-bags/thule-tour-rack-_-100090&ved=2ahUKEwjgrJG4-oDvAhXfRhUIHTMvCQAQFjAAegQIARAC&usg=AOvVaw0WMaSE17WKhsUD5A375baU

This seems like my best option with the freedom to swap it onto my MTB. I wouldn't be carrying heavy weight so these may work perfect for me. Has anyone here used these?

Cheers for the replies so far!

I was given a present of a rack and set of panniers but my CX bike which I'd use for touring has no mounts at all, I went with mounting it with P clips, only done one test spin so far but all seems fine.

The clips are sturdy enough and the rubber should protect the frame OK, got them off an Ebay seller, just be careful to get the right size
