Non-Essential Cross Border Fine..

    Hi,

I travelled to Northern Ireland yesterday via Bus which was checked on the Airport for Covid-19 Non-Essential travel.

I presented my reason which the officer mentioned as non-essential and said I'll be issued with a fine. She took photo f my GNIB/IRP (I'm a foreigner on Work permit) and noted my residential address.

I still don't know whether I was actually fined, and if yes how or where to go for paying the fine. Should I just go to any Garda station ?.

I haven't received any text message or email, or anything else.

How can I find out if I have received a fine for non-essential travel.

    Thank You

The fine will be posted to the residential address you gave. You'll get it in the post, they're not issued by a ticket at the side of the road like some countries (although should probably be, be easier for all involved)

You don't have to pay the fine if you don't want to, you can contest the fine in court, if you don't pay the fine, you will be summoned to court and can explain your case (if you think you have a valid reason)
