Considering buying a car. It is near new (201 Skoda Octavia). A display model so it seems.

What worries me is that the garage isnt in SIMI. Should I be worried about this?

    Is it a main dealer?

SIMI is a club basically. Nobody’s ever been thrown out if it. It’s a lobby group.

If it’s a main dealer then SIMI makes no difference. I’d be skeptical about a 201 Octavia being a display model, it’s more likely to be an ex-rental.

Why do you think you should not be worried if it was SIMI?

They claim it has only 12 km on it!

ANd it isnt a main dealer

    I’m sure they’d deliver it.

It’s bizzare that they have a 201 sitting there for a year especially as there’s a new model Octavia out in the meantime.

    Is it this one?

Note that it’s only €3k less than the full list price was in 2020.
The new model is more expensive, but this is still a year old car, and there would be demo discount claimed on this car. I’d want more money off.

There’s actually 2 registered owners on that car already. Last change of ownership the end of August 2020.
You’d be owner number 3 on the book, which is a serious bargaining chip.

There’s a story behind this, it’s not as straightforward as it just being a demo. Nothing sinister, but it should be cheaper than it is. It can’t be costing them the same as usual.

Its 3k off the base level car (Ambition I think). That is a Soliel which was about 28-29k i think

ANd yes I have a piece of junk (07 Fabia with 160km) that be hoping get decent chunk off for

The soleil estate 1.0 was only €25500.

I assure you it has 2 registered owners, not garage transfers but actual owners on the book.

They were also doing a feee upgrade to an estate last year (worth around €1000) to get rid of them.
It’s still on the website even https://www.skoda.ie/promotions/promotion-detail/octavia-combi

You’d be mental to not buy the new 2021 model (starting at €23720) unless you can get a big chunk off that asking price.

I have the old model Octavia estate and it’s a great car, but they came out in 2012 so the new model is more advanced and actually well enough equipped even as a base model. It will also be worth more down the road.

I remember that. I was tempted at the time

There should be a few more of them floating around if that is the case

Although when I mailed them about this car initially a few weeks ago they told me they had sold it but had another one in different shad grey

I wouldn’t pay more than €19500 or €20000 for it. With or without the 07 Fabia.

    Cheers, thanks

You are talking me into the new model. I might wait till 212 and see what is around especially considering the 202 original displays might be on cheap

I dont do huge kms so no problem waiting

They’re unused rentals. There was plenty of them about.
