Protected and Tagged trees- when is a tree protected

    Hi Guys,

We recently applied for planning permission and the planners report required us to submit an arborist tree survey.

We had a guy out and he tagged some trees with the metal plates and some coloured ribbons. We subsequently cancelled the planning application and I was just wondering, as this report was not submitted, can I assume that the trees are not yet registered with the council?

Basically we are building a much smaller extension and we are exempt from planning however there is a tagged tree that will be in the middle of the extension if that makes any sense. It needs to go and I would like to comply with any necessary procedures in order to remove it and some trees on the perimeter.

    The house is not protected.

    Thanks very much.

Any tree within 30 metres of a building can be removed, provided the tree was planted after the building was built, also trees in an urban area can be removed
