Is a car scrappage for bike scheme likely to happen in Ireland anytime soon?

I think it’s unlikely as they do it for environmental reasons for cars as older cars pollute more. For bikes it would have opposite impact as new bikes would have to be produced to replace the scrapped bikes, which themselves are not harming the environment.

i think you misread - they're not offering scrappage on bikes, they're offering scrappage on cars.

It looks like France will be the first country to implement this scheme

Who'd scrap a car in the current market?! Prices for anything with four wheels under it start at 5 grand! Used cars are in high demand, new car prices are up too. The scrappage allowance would have to be very generous to encourage change
