A few years back I got a small aluminium rad for the bathroom. It wasn't long before what looks like rust spots appeared all over it.

I assume its from splashes of water but why is it happening?

Just to note I'm not a plumber.

The 1st thing Aluminum does not rust, it may however corrode.
You can get specialist products to prevent it getting worse.

Here is a link that will give you more information.

    Are you sure it's aluminum?

Generally towel radiators are made from chrome plated steel.

Generally towel radiators are made from chrome plated steel. This would fall inline with the rust issue.ñ

thanks for replies, there is a towel rail over it and it looks to me that drips from drying your hands fall on the rad causing the paint (I'm guessing) to turn yellow.

It was supposed to be an alum rad and it looks like your typical alum rad but surely this problem shouldn't be happening.
