    Hi,

My parents built a house a few years ago. They currently own an old derelict building on their land and were hoping to demolish and build a bungalow as the house they built is 2 storey. Would it be possible for them to get planning to do this as they have already built a house but there technically is a structure already 🤔 Or would it be seen that there is no housing need

    Thanks

    1. Are you living at home?
    2. Have you applied for planning previously?
    3. Do you own a house?
    4. Are you working in the area?

OP, do up the old house as is then alloy for a single story extension.. some of those old farm houses can be quite low. Take out the old chimney if it is in the center of the house and rebuild by using steel studs and fire board and glass wool You can insulate on the inside or outside of the house

They should have no problem . I’m aware of someone that lives in county Wexford & has built / building 5 different houses in a radius of 5 miles & Wexford Coco has granted permission for each one .... despite them already residing in the area & they are selling them on for a vast profit !!!
