Wanted to get a new laptop and give old one to parents. Old one is Dell Studio 155

I use desktop for work but like laptop as back up for ms office email and browsing and possibly using when we get back to travelling.

I was looking at matebook Pro

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B083WXVJ13/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_RGC290X2S2GJD63EZHP7?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Price is close to €600 and wonder if worth it or wait until brexit issues sorted and if other companies deliver to Ireland.Ok camera not great but is battery. Its light and no ethernet but usually go wifi

Other than the above any other suggestions. No urgency but like to get or order one soon and €500 ish would be budget but can stretch it but not massively

    Cheers

    you mean the matebook d15

that is a solid choice and will breeze through those uses and last for 6 years +

it's not going to be any cheaper than that, Brexit or not

there is the model with the newer cpu 4500u for 90 more. that won't be any cheaper either. you don't need it for those uses above at all but it's an option if you want

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/HUAWEI-MateBook-Ultrabook-Fingerprint-Windows/dp/B08HR3W84V/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=matebook+4500u&qid=1613302469&sr=8-1

Only bad thing about this D15 is battery life and screen.

Need to take charger with you all the time. Also what is screen like for watching movies as reviews say it is washed out

the battery on the 15 is ok for its class

it's more that the one on the 14 is a bit bigger that's it really

it's an IPS screen and the contrast should be good and fine for watching movies - check youtube you can see many video review examples there.

    brightness is also ok

for your budget it's excellent value and can't see anything better out there in anywhere near the same budget range

in that budget range it's mostly nasty TN panels with low brightness and contrast and creaky plastic chassis cases with sub-par keyboards.
