Welcome to the Golf forum. To make everyones online life that little bit easier here are some rules and guidelines for posting in this forum.

    ALWAYS READ THE CHARTER!
The charter contains all the rules and guidelines. The charter may be updated at any time. Make sure you are up to date.
This is a requirement, and ignorance is not an excuse. There are different charters for every forum on Boards.ie, and reading them will prevent any problems.

    Rules
    There is no free speech!

-This is a privately owned website. You do not have the right to say whatever you want on here. You are expected to obey the rules just like anyone else. Not following the rules will get you banned. It is very simple. You are allowed to discuss most things as long as your discussion doesn't break the following rules (since this is a golf forum, the spirit of the rules is equally important and the moderators will examine issues and deal with them as they feel appropriate, using their own discretion):

Discussion of Court Cases - pending, ongoing or closed
Discussion of Court Cases, whether they are pending, ongoing or closed is forbidden on boards. Dy discussing cases, there has been an emerging trend of defence teams increasingly looking for these sorts of issues to collapse trials, we are making it clear and stated policy of Boards.ie that you can no longer discuss an active/sitting court case as pretty much any sort of commentary on the issue can be classified as contempt. Offering opinion on the innocence or guilt of the parties involved for example is a definite no-no.

    Advertising
    - Topics/posts that contain this will be both edited/locked or deleted. If you wish to buy add space, contact an admin.
    - Regular golf forum users will be given some leeway to link to ads on adverts.ie in the for sale thread only. Any abuse will lead to a ban.
There is to be no mention of Brendan McDaid on this forum. Any breach of this rule will result in an immediate site ban.

    Flaming
    - Posts containing personal attacks on another user will be edited/deleted. Poster will be banned.
    - Trolling or baiting another user or organisation is not acceptable.

    Spamming
    - Posts that are just complete nonsense will be deleted. You do not need to post threads in multiple forums. You may ask a Moderator if you think the post is important.

    Racism
    - Topics/posts containing such will be edited/deleted accordingly.

    Porn
    - Topics/posts containing such will be deleted on sight. This is a severe offence. The minimum ban handed out will be one month. Permanent bans will also be handed out for this. If you are linking to an external website that might contain "newspaper" nudity or contains sexual reference, please make sure you mark it "Not safe for work"

    Off Topic
    - Posts that stray off topic will be edited/deleted, depending on their relevance to the topic at hand. People who ignore a moderator's request to stay on topic will be banned for a week.

    Phone numbers
    - Posting other people phone numbers is a bannable offence. You should never post your own number on a thread as it is not guaranteed to be safe.

    Posting in "rtrd"
    - Using txtspk n ur psts is cnsdrd been rlly stpd cuz u hv qwert kbd n ur pc so xpct 2 b wrnd. Please don't do this, this is not a bannable offence but repeat offenders might be "asked" to take a break from posting.

    Grammar Nazis
    - Replying to a post to point out grammatical or spelling errors will result in an infraction.
Its not welcome here, don't do it.

    Personal Abuse
    - Posters who abuse others on here will be banned. Permanent bans will be handed out on a first offence if a moderator feels it is warranted. There is no argument on this one. Abuse someone and you will be banned. Calling someone an idiot is abuse. Don't attack the poster, attack the post.
    - Attacks on public figures should have be based on actions and without swear words.
'Harrington is a ******' for example is not a valid contribution. Similar posts will likely result in at least
an infraction, possibly a ban for the poster

    Pointless Threads and Polls
    - Posting any pointless thread or poll will result in the thread being locked. You can be banned for this. Think before you post. If you don't have anything to say then don't bother posting a new thread. Please try to comment as much as you can on any threads you create. If you create a thread in which you ask people to contribute in, contribute first.
    - Repeat offenders who post pointless, off-topic posts will be banned.

    Arguing with a moderator
    - Do not argue with a moderator in a thread after they have given a warning or a ban etc. If you have an issue with a moderator's action then PM the mod in question. They will discuss it with you. You can then, if unsatisfied with the PM route, take things further along the Dispute Resolution Procedure (DRP).

Giving cheek or attitude to a moderator will get you banned.

Do not under any circumstances complain about a mod on this forum. Do it either on PM or in Feedback.
Failure to adhere to any of the "mod" related rules will result in an instant 1 week ban.

    Reporting Posts
Any thread or post that contravenes the charter should be reported. When reporting a post, make sure you have good reason. Someone disagreeing with you is not a troll, not all arguments are abusive etc. Abusing this feature is frowned upon.

Registering a New Account to Circumvent a Ban
    - This will get all accounts site-banned.

    Cheating
Advocating/condoning/promoting cheating is a not supported on the golf forum. Cheating can be discussed but accusing other players/clubs of cheating without certifiable proof will not be tolerated.
Repeat offenders will be banned from the forum.

    Copyrighted materials
Anyone posting links to any streams (or other forms) that provide copyrighted material will be banned immediately for 6 months without warning. Same goes for anyone requesting a stream.
If you are looking for a legal stream then clearly state this in your post or you will get a ban.
    See here for boards.ie guidelines.

    Betting
Could all betting / gambling talk be kept in the Gambling Mega Thread found here please.
Do no make posts that are purely around betting/odds in any thread other than the gambling thread above.
Likewise do not make non betting related posts in the betting thread.
Its fine to make a comment on a bet you had on someone etc but this must not be the main purpose of your post.
Blatant attempts to ignore or circumvent this rule will result in a 1 month ban.
Under no circumstances should any poster offer a bet to any other poster. Immediate 1 month ban will result.
Warning will be given at the moderators discretion.

    Discussing Players Nationalities
It is forbidden to post discussions about what Nationality a player is or who they should play for. This is purely the players decision and does not belong on this forum

    Spreading Rumours About Clubs/People
It is strictly forbidden to post rumours about any player/club without referencing printed proof from another reputable source. Something you heard from someone else is not enough and should not be posted. Break of this rule will result in a 1 week ban.

    General Posting Guidelines
Please navigate around the forums before starting a new thread. Use the search function if you think something may have been posted before.
Before you post a thread, consider the following:

    - If you've a question about too-good-to-be-true deals from a Chinese website then yes, it is too good to be true.

    - If people want to read larger or smaller fonts then let them control that with their own browser. Don't format your post in 'headache'.

    - Is what I'm about to post relevant, coherent and funny or in any way interesting?

    - Does it add to the forum or is it another thread which is taking up space?

    - Has it been posted before?

-Is it suitable for this forum?

The above rules are not supposed to be all inclusive.
Please read the boards.ie general rules before posting here or anywhere on boards.ie
