Usually buy an artic lorry load of firewood from coillte every third year but I've been waiting the last year or so for them to reopen sales. Is there any progress on this? Or is there anyone selling privately? Just for firewood. Midlands.

    Thanks

How many tonnes is an artic load roughly and how much do you usually pay if you don't mind me asking?

Haven't a clue on tonnage. Presume about 25 tonnes. 1400 I paid 3 years ago. For softwood (spruce).

    Howdy all,

I'm in the midlands and am slowly dealing with the ash dieback. I'll have a few lorries of Ash to sell over the next few months.

Ash was planted 1996, 2001, and 2004 so good size for firewood.

    pm me for further details

@gutteruu just wondering how you got on with that load of spruce? Did you have any issues with the quality of the timber? Was it hard seasoned? Im looking at doing similar and getting a load of spruce lengths and process them myself for firewood. Thanks

Just wondering how much I should pay per tonne for a load of Spruce? Was thinking of processing it myself. Is there any firewood seller who specialises is selling loads of Spruce?

What part of the country are you in? Best bet is a truck driver, they might know where a load can be bought.

I'm in Laois. I burnt a few Spruce trees I got for nothing last year. It worked out fine. I was thinking of buying a load and cutting it myself but was wondering how much per tonne I should pay and where I could purchase it? I believe Coillte used top sell it but not anymore.

@lstmd did you end up getting that load of spruce?

I've a contact in Coillte that I'm gonna chat to soon about getting a lorry load of the low value logs from a nearby clear fell site (about 15min drive away) they are working on. Id process the logs myself.

What would be a fair price to expect to be asked per tonne roughly do ye think?
