I am trying to get a VRT estimate from the Revenue online VRT calculator but for the last few days the calculator is saying it cannot process the request!

Anyone else able to get it to work or is it just broken?

I would imagine they are recalibrating it to the new WLTP scale.

It would be handy if they actually said that somewhere!

I still cannot get a VRT estimate and it is nearly 5 days now since I first tried!

Can anyone else actually get an estimate as I just want to make sure it is not just me?

No its def down for a few days,
    official word from revenue

''in lieu of brexit ..........................we are working around the clock creating a VRT VAT NOX customs infinity loop''

Nope, as of this a.m., still down

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

A week now and I have not been able to calculate the exact amount on a car I am trying to buy!

Is there any manual method I can even use instead of using the calculator?

    Revenue jokers.

    Total disregard for the public.

Is there anyway to get in touch with the VRT section of Revenue?

I can't find an email address or phone number for that department so how can we find out what is going on with the VRT calculator as a week is just too long to nor have something like this working!

Find the co2 output of the car, match that to a WLTP VRT rate, and multiply the vrt rate by the value dealers are selling the car here in Ireland. It will give you a rough idea

Could you explain where to find these details please?

Back working there now and as we expected has the WLTP calculations on it now
Importing cars will be all but dead with VAT, import duty and this new WLTP co2 calculation. It was fun while it lasted

    It sure was.

It will be like east Germany driving trabant equivalent Dacia dusters.

The whole thing is a bigger mess than ever it was.

They are quoting 'calculated' WLTP figures according to their 'formula'.

WLTP became compulsory Sep 2018 and any vehicle registered thereafter should have the WLTP figure on the V5C.

BMW 118d was NEDC 99mg, now calculated to be WLTP 125mg.

The official WLTP figure on the V5C is 115mg!

So can you use the v5c figure as before?

V5c figure in the PHEV I am buying is 44mg but VRT is calculated on 75mg WLTP!

    So almost double!
    How can they justify that?

Its still only a 2% VRT increase in fairness

Still, it's 2 % out of our pockets, not in

    Fairness?

    What are you drinking?

€480 out of my pocket because nobody in VRT can be bothered to do their job properly!

    It's tax!

I'm not cheating, smuggling, or stealing anything.

I was held to ransom, they took my money off me as they pleased and I've got to go begging for it back.

It's like the banana republic of old!

The last thing it is is 'fair'!

I wasn’t replying to you. The poster said that their emissions had doubled. I just pointed out that although its a 100% increase in emissions its only a 2% increase in VRT.

VRT was based on the outdated NEDC basis of emissions which was highly inaccurate. Its no longer used so VRT can hardly be based on it anymore unfortunately.

In the grand scheme of things 2% should be the least of your worries with 10% customs and 23% VAT now applicable
