Hi! So over Christmas I had to claim unemployment for a few days as I'm in the education sector. So I was paid by social for one day that I started illness benefit instead. (I have an op coming up and can't work til after. ), so therefore both payments overlapped for one day, the 9th. 5 weeks on, I still haven't received my first payment for illness benefit. I've sent 3 emails, no reply, phoned 4 times and they keep saying next week, its out of their hands, its been passed on to people in charge of overlapping, but they can't give me details. I've emailed and called welfare office but no replies there either. Does anyone have knowledge of who I should contact? I've explained I'm really stuck but they say tough basically

You could try the community welfare officer for a one off payment on the basis of exceptional and urgent needs:

    https://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/4/olderpeople/carersrelatives/community-welfare-services-.html

Not sure how easy it is to get them in these Covid times...

Hope they get you sorted soon.

Just a suggestion, from experience, contact your local TD or minister of social welfare by email,
    Can work wonders!
