Anyone have experience of the Volvo D3 engine or know much about it? I've had the 2.0d PSA and 1.8 petrol in the past but the D3 seems to be pretty rare in Ireland.

    Yeah I think it's a 5 cylinder 2.0, it's in a C30 I'm looking at. Mileage is high enough at 128,000.

I have a 2012 Volvo S60 with that 5 cylinder, 2.0D engine - 138,000 miles. I've had it for about 55,000 of those miles. Have had no issues with it but i get it serviced about every 7-8,000 miles (twice a year) at a good indy. What do you want to know about it?

I was just wondering if anyone had experience of it as it's a rare enough engine in Ireland. I was curious about its reliability, etc but all reports I've heard so far have been positive.

Yeah, it's been rock solid for me.

Not diesel but I've a 5 cylinder 2.0 petrol turbo engine with just under 250k km on the clock. Has been very reliable in 6 years of ownership, only thing to go was one of the coil packs.
One thing with the 5 cylinder engine is that it's width makes the turning circle a bit pants, can be awkward in ever tightening car parks etc.

I can definitely attest to this. I had a 5 cylinder S60 for several years (a petrol one) and it was a fabulous engine. Plenty of power for anything I ever asked of it and it was smooth and unstressed. Never missed a beat and only things it ever needed were regular services and a timing belt/water pump. The turning circle was definitely like an oil tanker though... 3 point turns were actually 7 or 8 :)

Mind it, and it’s fantastic, good ta go, economic, good sound, love it...keep the services coming...intercooler rubber pipe rots every couple years, we’ve 270k miles, still fab.
