Just interested in folks opinion on this:

    2006 320D E90
    Manual
    65,000 Miles
2 owners - last owner since 25K miles

    Dark blue exterior.
    Oyster interior (leather/leatherette).
    Sunroof.
    Door handle lights.

    Pirelli P7 Tyres (almost new)
    EGR valve regularly cleaned
    ABS unit replaced
    Brembo Brakes

Superchips Bluefin Remap to ~190 BHP
Previous ceramic coatings & finish by Brian at Spirit Detailing

    Original BMW radio available.
Eonon touchscreen with Bluetooth in place.

Passes NCT with no problems every year.

I am doing zero miles on this at the moment.

Does one keep this and hence absorb the cost and wait a few years until classic status or does one sell?

Why change if one not using it much and two it's never let you down.

Sounds like a keeper for now.

Keeping till 30 that's up to you.

    What's it currently costing you?
Sell and replace it with what?

Actually even more reason to keep is its most likely cleaner and better shape then most of what you would even replace it with, sounds like you really mind it and the detailing done.

Obviously if you have the budget and want a change and as you aren't doing the mileage maybe a nice hot hatch petrol might be an idea.

I cannot see how spending money on replacing one unused car with another one that won't be used either makes any sense. If it's not going to be used then I'd just sell it, if you have nowhere to store it then letting it sit out in the elements unused won't do it any good either.

Is that covid related or other reasons?
It's worth not too much anyway tbh so if you intend using it in the future I'd keep it. I'd not ne keeping it for any future classic reasons unless you are in if the the long haul....... 10 years plus.

Low miles, low owners, well maintained. Worth more to you than what you will sell it for. I think the phrase here is that if its not broke don't fix it. You won't be able to replace it like for like.

So unless you want something specific keep it.

Keep the oil changes frequent, maybe look into getting the crankcase filter changed next service too. (E90 ones don't give much bother but better safe then sorry)

Might be wise to get the swirl flaps removed if they're still in it too. A well minded m47 can be a very reliable engine worth holding onto imo.

Why would they do that when they’re not even driving the car?

Pandemic hopefully won't last forever :pac:

Those above service practices I mentioned are relatively cheap to do and ensure great reliability. If keeping the car for a good few more years it'd be a no brainer to do them.

    .

With the covid situation i am working from home. Probably will be for the rest of the year.

I used to use this for mainly long distance work trips to Belfast, Cork, Galway etc. but haven't done any of those in the past year.

Have another car in the family for the usual runaround.

If you sell now and want to get similar this time next year I'd imagine you'll regret the decision. Unless someone gives you a great price.
Sounds a lovely bus and as someone mentioned you're unlikely to get what it's worth by selling it. New tyres and ABS unit were quite likely not cheap.

Alternate between cars or sit it up but get a battery charger to hold battery in shape.
