Moving a direct debit to another account

    Hi all,

Just wondering if it is straight forward to move a direct debit from one account to another, when both account are with the same bank.

My mother does not want the hassle of a few accounts any more and want to close her own one and move the TV DD to their joint one (both in Ulster bank).
Does she just need to ring (or write) to them and ask them to do it or is it more complex then that?

    Thanks.

You have to change it with the supplier, the originator of the charge debits the bank account rather than the bank sending the payment which would be a standing order not a direct debit. So you need to advise whoever is debiting the bank of the change rather than the bank itself.
