Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone with any experience with Armusa carts?

I got 3 boxes thrown in when buying a bunch of gear. Apparently small Spanish company.

I normally shoot 30/32 #6 or #5 Eleys or Gamebore rough shooting pheasant. 30/32 7 or 8 woodies.

What I got was Armusa PLA-1 34g #6. These are euro size. 2.7 mm so more like a 5.5 Brit shot. Ok. Would be grand for further out late pheasant.

But another one is Armusa PLA-1 34g #7 (2.5mm - presumably stamped correctly on the casing, but oddly misprinted on the box as 2,25, because that's the wrong direction and weird)

Anyway, that's like 34g of 6.5 Brit shot. Can't think of what this would be ideal for rough shooting in Ireland. Would be ballastically unhelpul on any game birds at any range here wouldn't it? Maybe blasting corvids?

    So any thoughts?

The third box is really interesting. Armusa Dispersante (dispersing). 34g #9. (2mm) That's a small 9. Apparently the wad has its own chambers so it throws this stuff in multiple shot clusters like fireworks or something? Open choked I'd like to see it in slow mo. Might be good for woodies w open choke?

The fact that some of the spec is misprinted on the packaging wouldn’t fill me with confidence.
Anyway I’ve never heard of the, so that’s no use to you.

    Never heard off them.

The 34g #6.5 could be good for duck shooting.

    34g # 9 that's an unusual cartridge.......maybe use for jumpy snipe.

Only 10 cartridges in them boxes.
Iv used the 50g No2 for the past 2 years for foxing, I can't fault them.
Bought a slab of 32g no 5 last summer for crow shooting, found them just ok

I might be missing a trick here.
But I can’t understand why that’d be desirable. Surely you want the shot to do where you’re pointing it, as evenly as possible.

So it's nor really "multiple shot clusters". It's discussed and has an image in shotgun world forum "spreader shells" Can't post url link as I'm a newbie.

    Shotgunworld "How spreader shells perform"

I suppose it would have its uses on the more delicate game at short range.

No more opinions on the usefulness of 34g of #7 (6.5)?

Just curious do you know do these cartridges have a green plastic wad?

Ah I get what you mean. Is the to force it out from the centre for more density at the periphery. ThstvI could see the benefit of.

They make them but I think the ones I got are regular plastic. Found website (put link back together: ) en . cartuchosarmusa . Com

Seems a few shops around Ireland are selling these. I dunno. Found another error on their web. Their dispersante is marked 34 on box but in their specs on web it says 30. Typos galore also found a picture online of #7s (same green box as mine) and,it says 3,25! ??? As above, sticker on box says 2,25 but shell case stamped 2.5mm

    ???

I think on the continent they shoot a lot of birds we won't shoot here like thrush and starling so maybe it's for them.

I used to hear that years ago from lads in the gun club down in Dad’s homeplace. “Such and such brought over a load of Italians and they blasted anything and everything”.

First they came for the socialists...

    And they were correct.

Local hotel here had about 10 rooms rented for the entire summer and there wasn't a songbird in the locality for years after they left

I'm not saying it to insult shooters on the continent, what they shoot is up to them once it's within the laws. But I'm fairly certain that starling and thrush are shot and I'm nearly sure RC make a cartridge specific for thrushes.Ill have a look to see can I find it.

I was wrong on RC.But again what's being shot is within the rules of said country or countries so that's there business.Anyway sorry for dragging question op asked off topic, feel free to delete anything that's clogging up topic.

No bother! Probably haven't got an answer really (except maybe ducks, but wouldn't be my load of choice for them either even walking rough wetland where I stumble on some short rangers) because it's too much medium small sized lead. When the clay grounds open again, I'll probably just spend it as some practice snapping and poking...Sure the guys wouldn't mind for casual busting dishes.

ive used armusa #6 on corvids and duck, couldnt fault them, but they are no cheaper than eley in my local rfd though...

  • Registered Users Posts: 6 Alex Lennon

Thanks. I see. But 6 in Armusa is like 5.5 in Eley. Decent size for duck. What weight?

7 in Armusa is like 6.5 in Eley. Therefore, they want to be closer range, but then 34 grams of the stuff is a lot of lead even if the choke was opened. Just can't figure this load. Like I said, all I can think of is thin skinned stuff you wouldn't be putting on a plate to eat!
