Alternative to Large bottled gas for Terraced House

My mum moved into a house in Dublin last year, it is a terraced house about 25 years old. There was a about 16 houses built off another road where the houses would have been built in the 50's.
All the houses would have had Electric storage heating. The guy who used to own this house changed it to large bottled gas (similar to what you see in restaurants). This is what is used to heat the house/water. She is finding she is having to get these refilled every 2 weeks which she is finding quite expensive.
She rang Board gas about going the gas mains but they said would be huge job as would have to do the whole road. Looked at getting bigger tank but as it is a terrace truck driver needs to be able to see tank and truck so not an option.
Would it be very expensive to switch to Oil? Any other options?

You could speak to Calor and Flogas to see what they could offer in terms of contract deal on cylinders. It is possible that a significant discount could be achieved vs what you are currently paying.

Oil would seem like the only mainstream alternative. Cost to install - probably somewhere between €3k & €5k depending on what is involved.

In a previous house I used to have Calor bottled gas on an auto changeover when bottles emptied. Empties were then replaced for full. Was a good system except was expensive for heating.
I called the local rep about the cost and said I couldn't afford it and was going to change to oil. He immediately gave me the bulk tank gas price for the bottles (~20% reduction iirc). Happy days. I had no intention of switching to oil.;)

Unusual setup for a house in Dublin. Although not entirely unheard of.

Is there gas on the road i.e check the neighbours if they have mains connection
