Works on farms? Essential or not?

Would carrying out work on farms count as essential, eg calving bays, or repairs to sheds.
It would be essential to the health, wellbeing and safety of the animals obviously but would that be enough?

If you are satisfied it is a health and safety and/or welfare matter, and you can find a builder/contractor to take on the work, I see no issue.

If carrying out work, a call to your local Garda station to explain what you are doing is no harm. Not they they vet or are the judges of what is essential or not, but if notified, it might help smooth over builder/contractor being stopped at checkpoint.

SI4 of 2021 will give the legislation.

Have a read of that and if you are ok then carry out the works. As above, be no harm talking to local Garda too as here in Dublin ive heard of Gardai visits to some of the big sites.
