Flickering engine management light

2007 petrol avensis 1.6 . Engine management light rapidly flickering at times, then can stay on for a minute, then disappears again. Half of the time it's not on at all. Car is running perfectly other than that , main dealer service less than 5k ago.

The flickering is far more rapid than the usual blinking engine management light that would indicate a misfire for example.

Could it be an electrical fault?

    Thanks

There's a few suggestions at the link below. You need to get it to a mechanic to see if there are an error codes being thrown up. I wouldn't be bringing a 2007 car to a main dealer. You're paying premium price to service a car that's out of warranty.

My wife’s old Corolla has a nearly identical quirk, engine light illuminating (steady light, not flashing or blinking), which disappears after a spin or two, usually mid-cycle. No power reduction and drives very well.

Got code read and it’s the O2 exhaust sensor, apparently caused by increased short drives. The sensor on yours might need a clean, and a good decent spin afterwards.

It could just be a loose connection somewhere too, but it does not sound like something that will hurt your wallet.
