New Laptop €1000 budget

Hey all,

Looking for advice on a new laptop. I was one of the few that bought that vorke notebook on a previous thread. All going well until last night it suddenly shut off and there was a smell of burn coming from the back of the laptop.

Looking for a replacement in the roughly 800-1000 price range. Used to be a big pc gamer but the only game I play on it these days is football manager.

Otherwise than that the usual of internet browsing, office etc.

Bought a year or so. There is a thread on here about it. Not worth the hassle sending it back to China. Just need a new one as soon as possible

that laptop (Vorke) turned out to be a dodgy design

a youtube reviewer gave it a good review (but knowing that one had failed on him) and it was a very attractive price but it a was a dud in the end.

turns out that a company who didn't have a long experience in laptops found out that it's not that easy to make a good one

this hp envy at 799 is a very nicely built laptop with a discrete graphics card, metal build and nice quality screen

very good price for the overall package

of if you don't need portability and metal build this hp with a powerful cpu and graphics card for £650 is good value

Thanks for the quick replies. I would like to keep it to brick and mortar if possible. Thats an impressive laptop but it's out of stock unfortunately. Would you not be hit with customs though with Amazon or is computer parts tariff free?

amazon uk sort out all Brexit related stuff without you having to worry about anything.

amazon also provide better after sales service than B&M shops tbh

it was in stock when I posted the link - because it's a good deal it goes quickly

komplett are ok I believe yes

haven't personally used them but have not really heard anything negative about them

Apparently not the greates on trustpilot. Was looking at this laptop on Amazon after hearing they are ok regarding Brexit.

This could be worth looking at. It's 909 Euro including import fees. Would be a solid gaming machine, plus roomy solid state. The only thing is that coming from America it might be a 120v transformer rather than 240, but I've heard that the transformers for laptops these days are usually dual voltage.

if you're thinking US amazon this legion has a way more powerful cpu (8-core 4800h decimates that 4-core i5) and also a decent bump in gpu also

all laptops are multi-voltage these days

plug converter or just use an old end plug cable piece from a laptop charger that you already have

the currently relatively weak us dollar does open up the us option alright
