    Hi

I am think of joining the housing list for a house because I'm currently on disability and its really hard to find affordable rent for a house. I am currenty staying in an Airbnb, is this an acceptable proof of address when applying for the housing list? I am also in college in a different county, can I consider applying to the housing list in this county as it makes sense considering I an studying there? Thanks for any help

I don't think that living in an Airbnb is acceptable proof of address when applying for the housing list. This, I think, is for a few reasons, including a practical one where if they write to you and you don't get the letter, they will take you off the housing list anyway. So I suggest that you talk to your local council, perhaps the social worker or homeless outreach officer can advise you if you should register as (technically) homeless, or perhaps you can give a relative's address as a place where post can be sent to you? Talk it over with them and they will advise you on what is the best approach for your case.

You can apply to be on the housing list in any county you like. You don't have to be resident in that county. You can only be on one county council's housing list though. So decide where you want, eventually, to live and put in the application to that county's council.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your application.

They'll accept Airbnb as your current proof of address, same way they'll accept a hostel etc.
You need to inform them every time you change address in future and provide proof of same.

You'll have to show you are resident or have substantial links to the county, not sure if doing an 'online' course for a college would be enough
In general, you must already be living in the area covered by that housing authority or have a local connection with the area – though a housing authority may agree to waive this requirement

As stated, chat to the Council housing officer about it
