So, The Brother is looking at a camper in NL. Seems nice.

Question is: how do people get them back to Irl - has anyone used a shipping Co or similar to get one home, and what sort of costs were involved ?

that mightn't be for another 6 months though, that and too much time involved, would prefer to 'learn' it here.

I've moved cars & motorbikes by transport Co, but never anything this big tbh.

I can't help with this, I went to DE and drove mine back.
Lots of transport companies have difficulty because of the weight involved>3500kg is a big load on a flatbed car transporter.
On the plus side there is direct routes from Netherlands to Dublin port now which are fast.

the new NL-DUB route is a container ship - would it fit in a shipping container?

It's not the kind of ferry you can go on. Freight only. If you find a small one it might fit in a container.

Ah, they can't be that hard to find - I'd regularly see two or three campers on the back of a lorry here in France; and there's a place up the road from me that'll rent a flatbed breakdown-truck with a 12T capacity for self-driving (looked into renting it to collect a piece of heavy plant last year) It's height rather than weight that'll cause problems.

If you can't collect it yourself, I'd nearly say your best bet would be to pay someone to drive it back for you. Alternatively, pay them to accompany you while you drive it back. You'd nearly be better off doing your "learning" on the wider, more camper-tolerant continental roads anyway, I'd think.
