It looks to be all but over.

Addresspal apart from taking 3+ weeks to deliver is fraught with unsurety. VAT, Customs, Handling charges if no invoice.

Ask your average seller in the UK to include an invoice and it will be enough to cancel the sale in many cases.

Its awful. We used to buy kids coats and hoodies, just stuff they grow out of very quickly. It is almost impossible now. Not worth it. Really dont know if there is a light at end of tunnel but it would seem there isnt..

Been using it for almost 20 years for everything, completely ruined now. I keep browsing but am unable to buy things with all the 'UK only' auctions.

On the plus side it had curtailed my online spending somewhat..!

Hadn't it gone done in recent years anyway? Huge fees, tacked on everywhere. Forcing sellers to use Paypal.

Yeah absolute disaster. Fix up motorbikes here as a side income and have used Ebay for parts for almost 15 years but they don't want to know you now if outside UK and Addresspal is gone to hell

I had big issues with them overcharging vat, and then then for sterling payments I received, they wanted to exchange them to euro and back to sterling before I could withdraw them.

I was a big eBay user. Ordered one item this year - £12.99 and free shipping to AddressPal. No invoice in the box so An Post gave it a value of €23.03 and charged me €8.33 as a result. Delivery was slow too.

It's a shame as the UK version is a great marketplace.

Ebay and Parcel Wizard used to be my first port of call for almost everything I needed. I used to buy specialist shoes for my arthritis and orthotics from the an Ebay factory outlet for under 30 euro delivered. The same ones would cost at least 160 Euro, if I ordered direct from their main website now, more if customs duties are applied as well as the extra VAT.

I suppose I could go the Addresspal route, but there's no guarantee that they won't just look up their website and decide they really cost £90+ and charge me accordingly.

Once they put in paperwork with the outlet price on it, there shouldn't be a problem. They will also have to remove the UK VAT as its for export. The situation with Addresspal wil have to settle down, as revenue will get a pain in their b@lls having to refund a load of incorrect entries.

Still use it, one of the benefits of working in the North and living south of the border.
The amount of stuff being delivered to my work place and being taken across the border must be gone up tenfold

How's it working for sellers from Ireland to the UK? Have a few older videogames I'd like to stick up there but have now idea how it would work.

Ebay used to be my first search for an item. I literally only use it now to search for stuff and price comparison. I find Amazon only has about 50% of stuff that I would previously have bought on ebay. Ebay was great for obscure parts and stuff you just couldn't find easily anywhere else. I think I've only bought 3 things since the customs debacle, 2 from Irish sellers and an item from the UK that I just couldn't get anywhere else and had to pay UK and Irish vat + collection fee. I would have been buying 50 to 100 items a year previously.

Ya.... it’s a shame. I lucky to have a family friend in Enniskillen that I can use and we meet up 1-2 times year and they hold my items for me.

I think I'm about to buy something from ebay with a seller in the U.K. What should I watch out for?

I would just see if u can buy it on Amazon first - and buy of them if available even if price is a bit higher
