Gutters leaking?

    Hi All,

Very heavy rain last night has thrown up an interesting water mark on the house that I haven’t noticed before.
I have 2 questions for someone that might know more
    1) is this serious
    2) where is the water coming from?

Re item 2) I looked up in the gutter and it’s not on a joint and it doesn’t look like it overfilled (as in there’s nothing blocked up there)

But it doesn’t look nice and I’m worried it could get worse or highlight a different problem.

    Any advice appreciated

Check the down pipe it might be blocked internally.
In some cases rainfall is so intense that the system just cannot cope with the amount of water coming off the roof.
How many down pipes do you have? Diameter of same?
What kind of fall is there along the length of gutter?

Are you sure this water is from your gutters. I’d be looking for a loose tile and that the roof felt (underlay) is lapping over into your guttering and not into your soffit/facia

That be my thinking. Cracked or loose tile check all the way up to the ridge along that line

it could be roof damge up higher but i would check the easier stuff first.
check gutters to make sure they are clear.
make sure downpipes are clear, pour water down them to be sure
check the overhang of the slates .

the fascia board looks wet in the pic . it was a fairly windy night before the OP posted. what direction is this wall facing. if the gutter was overflowing the wind would blow it back along the soffit onto the wall like that.

Sorry, mental busy day in work and didn’t get a chance to measure the gutter widths and lengths but I will tomorrow.

It’s approx 30m long and has 2 downpipes at either end. Guess 50mm wide but could be more. It’s a north facing wall.

Interesting on the tiles, what yer saying is that this should be coming into the gutter? I can actually get to this from the attic, so I’ll check that from there too just in case. Wasn’t thinking anything like that.

I did some work during lockdown 1 on the gutters, at the very ends they are quite leaky. And even after all the work I did on them, it’s still leaky now. Maybe not at much. But I gave them a good clean out then with a hose, the slope isn’t overly severe in it, when cleaning last year anyway seemed to have a bit of water on the bottom, it kinda needed dry weather to evaporate it
