    Hello All,

Not sure if this is the right place----mods feel free to move

I see this article in breakingnews.ie today and RTE1 News a few days ago about a family in Campile, Co. Wexford that want to "raffle their house" to move to a bigger one.

It it a genuine cause or a scam as i have been caught before.

    Regards,

After reading the article it seems like a genuine cause to be honest...

It's not a charity, nor is it bring presented as one.

Rather, it's a gambling opportunity, which this couple are using as a business approach to raise capital to upgrade their accommodation.

    Kinda clever.

But I do wonder about the legality of individuals doing it.

once you apply to the garda for a licence for the raffle there is no issue with legality.

Raffling houses was relatively common about 10-12 years ago as it was seen by some as the only way to dispose of a house for the same price they paid for it.

Interesting that this is happening again.
